Lisa Baer
- Lauridsen Ballet Centre
Lisa was born and raised in Cape Town South Africa and started dancing at the age of 5. She was trained in RAD (Royal Academy of Dance) with Mignon Furman and Katherine Zaymes and completed all exams including Solo Seal. In 1989, Lisa joined Capab Ballet Company now known as Cape Town City Ballet Company, where she started off as Corps de ballet member and rose to the ranks of senior soloist over a ten year span. She came to the US in 1999, and joined the Lauridsen Ballet Centre faculty in 2001.
She has had the pleasure of teaching students that have moved onto professional Companies throughout the country and Europe. Working as a professional ballet dancer has given Lisa many opportunities to dance in ballets touring nationally and internationally to the UK. She also had the great pleasure of performing at Sadlers Wells Theatre and had the chance to meet the Duchess of Kent.
Lisa's roles have included anything from a friend of Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, signets in Swan Lake, peasant pas de deux in Giselle to the lead roles in Don Quioxte and Coppelia. Lisa feel's very blessed and proud to be part of such a great, well rounded team of professionals at the Lauridsen Ballet Centre.
