Hiroko Ogawa is a diverse pianist, proficient in classical, Japanese, popular and jazz music. She earned her Bachelor and Master Degrees in piano performance from Kobe University in Japan. She took master classes from Professor Jorg Demus in Salzburg, Austria, in 1992 and 1993. She specializes in accompaniment for songs of German composers such as Schumann, Schubert and Mozart. As well as being a popular performer, she has an extensive teaching background. She is presently a ballet accompanist at the Lauridsen Ballet Centre and at the Academy for Dance and Kindred Arts. Ms. Ogawa is staff accompanist for music majors at Biola University, La Mirada, and writes music columns for the Rafu Shimpo, the largest Japanese newspaper in the U.S.
